Our Story

Our journey began in 2005 with a dream of raising animals that thrived off the land with minimal inputs. We began our grass-fed livestock venture with a clear goal: to deliver healthier, chemical-free, and pasture raised animal.  Despite our initial lack of experience, our commitment and passion propelled us to continuously adapt and refine our practices.

We began our adventure in Grass Valley, California, on just 5 acres with a few goats, which we later transitioned to hair sheep. By 2010, we had the opportunity to purchase 90 acres in a more remote part of Grass Valley. This new land presented significant challenges: it was bare, with minimal fencing and no infrastructure. We invested countless hours in installing perimeter and cross fencing and setting up a comprehensive water system. Despite the tough conditions of the rocky, dry foothills, we embraced the hardy hair sheep for their unique flavor and resilience and expanded our herd of sheep and cattle. We also leased additional properties to implement rotational grazing, further enhancing our practices.

As life evolved with work changes and a growing family, we sold our 90-acre ranch and moved to 30 irrigated acres in Cottonwood, CA, in 2019. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter in our pursuit of more land and a fresh start beyond California.

In the summer of 2022, we took a major step towards our dreams by relocating halfway across the country to a 160-acre property outside the small town of Havana, Kansas. This move allowed us to expand our operation and offer our children a richer ranch life experience in a close-knit community. Our children play a vital role in our operation, assisting with various day-to-day tasks around the ranch.

Today, we focus on raising high-quality, low-maintenance, grass-fed hair sheep, cattle, chicken and eggs. Our animals graze on meticulously managed pastures, benefiting from a natural diet that enhances their health and the flavor of our products.
